The Astor Company partnered with ITW's (Illinois Tool Works) Food Equipment Group to save old HT series scales of Hobart, a food equipment manufacturer, from being disposed into landfill sites. ITW initiated a program called "Trade In, Trade Up" as a better alternative of handling old scales. Old scales were sent to a recycling center to be destructed. Certain parts, such as plastic and metal parts, were selected out for new uses. Under the collaboration between Hobart and us, 10,800 old scales were recycled in total, which were turned into 315 tons of recyclable materials.
